Lakeview Pantry
Lakeview Pantry provides food for the homeless and low-income inhabitants of the Lakeview
neighborhood. Established in 1970, the pantry's services continue to be needed by a growing number
of people. Over $500,000 worth of food is distributed to approximately 11,000 people annually.
Currently located in a cramped basement space in the Jane Adams House at Belmont and Broadway, the
pantry will be moving to a new, larger site at 3831 N. Broadway, where it can better carry out its
mission of serving an ever-growing community. Supporting the Spirit and volunteer designer Jean Alan
are developing the following design elements:
- a welcoming reception space with a vibrant mural, a private intake interview area, colorful
flooring and a granite countertop.
- an ADA accessible restroom, beautifully tiled through contributed services and materials.
- sourcing materials such as desks, chairs, lighting, flooring, and a walk in cooler and freezer.
Stacking chairs for the reception area and a three-compartment industrial sink for food
preparation have already been donated.
